In a nutshell, some of the coolest movies you probably won't have seen but really should have. Known in Europe as 'B-Movies' in the 1970's, the genre gained widespread audiences in America with audiences thirsty for a different kind of film, filled with blood, guts, gore, scantily clad ladies and the best kung-fu action.
It is not widely known, but a number of these films were filmed in parts of Asia, particularly the Philippines, and were frequently directed and produced by local filmmakers. Grindhouse films had huge appeal among US audiences who were looking for an action-packed alternative to Hollywood mainstream movies.
