Òran Mór

Òran Mór, means the 'great melody of life' or 'big song'.

The venue was opened in 2004 as a cultural centre and meeting place in the heart of Glasgow's West End. Situated within a converted church, it consists of two bars, two restaurants and a nightclub.

Since its launch it has become a cultural hub on the corner of the Great Western Road and Byres Road, playing host to a range of high profile plays, gigs and other events.

Café Mao

Cafe Mao isn't a Chinese restaurant but an eclectic Pan-Asian diner whose dishes and influences range from India to Indonesia to Japan and everywhere in between.

Set in Glasgow’s bustling Merchant’s City, the décor is minimalist but brightly-coloured, laid out over two floors and usually abuzz with happy eaters.

This opening event of the festival will see Cafe Mao serve Singapore Beef Noodles, Nasi Goreng, 5 Spice Stir fry and the eponymous Chilli Crab.

DJs

The Glasgow leg of Tiger’s Chilli Crab tour will play host to some of the finest DJ talent in the city.

Eclectic sets will come from Chris ‘Beans’ Geddes (Belle & Sebastian), Andy Divine (the Art School) and Craig Moogroove (Recon Projects) making for a heady mix of sonic flavours.

Glasgow-based curator Mutley has selected the DJs for this event. Mutley runs the Studio Warehouse in the city's Yorkhill, an exciting initiative which offers a series of open plan arts studios for rent to local artists on a temporary or permanent basis.
